Veterans Day

Two days out of the year are set aside to honor those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and defended our nation. The first day is Memorial Day, a day where we pay respect and remember those who have fallen in the defense of our Republic. The second is Veterans Day, the day where we honor those who have served and sacrificed on behalf our nation and returned home having earned the title of “Veteran”.

Our Post 178’s Veterans Day Program begins on the evening of November 10th with our annual Veterans Day dinner which began in 2007. During the dinner the Post recognizes members of our community and our post for significant actions and contributions to the post and area veterans. At 11am on November 11, the Legion gathers at Veterans Park in Millerton to pay tribute to all of our area and nations Veterans. Traditionally this includes a reading of names of members of our community who have served in our nations conflicts.
